ISPA's twelfth International Congress will bring focus and perspective to one of the world's most dynamic and interesting emerging arts markets, the Baltic region. To be held in Stockholm on June 8 - 11, the Congress will offer in-depth discussions, keynotes from leading regional arts figures, and indigenous arts experiences. The Baltics have become a hotbed of cultural activity and change since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Traditional Scandinavian arts centers have been joined by the arts renaissance of the new independent states, leading to a unique blend of culture, and a reawakening of an ancient regional spirit. Conference sessions will explore the artistic, cultural, political, and business aspects of the region, as well as the role of the performing arts. Featured speakers will include Sweden's Minister of Culture, Marita Ulvskog, as well as violinist Gidon Kremer, Kirov Opera conductor Valery Gergiev, and former Volvo president Pehr G. Gyllenhammar. The opening keynote will be presented by Vytautas Landsbergis, Chairman of Lithuania's parliament (Seimas). Evening events will explore the cultural life of Stockholm, including a dinner and tour in the National Gallery of Sweden, and a dinner cruise in the Stockholm Archipelago. This twelfth International Congress is sure to be a memorable event in a dynamic environment of change and artistic growth. We hope you will consider joining your colleagues in June. More information and registration forms are available from the ISPA office.
